Volunteer Opportunities

The Phillips-Strickland House Corporation consists of more than 160 VOLUNTEER Corporators, including 12 members of the Board of Directors. Board meetings are held quarterly. Tthere are several committees that meet frequently and report to the Board. Management of Phillips-Strickland and the employment of a full time staff adequate to provide care for all residents is the responsibility of the Executive Director/Administrator.

Cindee is one of our valuable volunteers at PSH. Cindee comes to PSH on a regular schedule each week to assist residents and the activity director. The residents look forward to Cindee's visits.

Let's ask Cindee what volunteering at PSH means to her.

"I just love it here. I feel very fortunate to have found such a warm homey place with such great elderly residents to work with. When I walked through the door that fist day, I knew I had chosen the right place for me. I have to opportunity to work directly with the residents and I have formed many wonderful relationships over the past few months. They make me feel good because I know that they appreciate all that I do with them. I've gone back to school, but I still find time to volunteer at PSH. The staff has been wonderful to me, too. They really care about the residents. I think it's a great place to work, live, or volunteer."

Volunteers serve in a variety of ways. The visiting committee, the birthday committee and the resident counsel work together with the staff to meet the needs of our residents. The full-time Activity Director works very closely with the volunteers, using their talent and energy to benefit the residents of Phillips-Strickland House.
