

January 19, 2012 will mark the 35th year of service for Phillips-Strickland House. Each PSH Resident invites a guest to the celebration. Paul Sullivan, Grammy Award winner, will be our guest pianist again this year. (3rd photo on left and view his web site by clicking above on his name),
The Annual Health and Safety Fair for employees was held February 17 from 10 am to 12 p.m. in the Activity Room followed by a healthy lunch and a guest speaker.
This annual major fundraising event will be held at the Bangor Civic Center on Saturday, March 17, 2012. This year's dancers will be announced soon.
The Phillips-Strickland House Corporation held its Annual Meeting on April 21 to elect officers and vote on business matters. The Annual Tea at 2:00 is open to residents, staff, and Corporators. Lee Ann Szelog was our guest speaker (3rd photo down and see her web site by clicking on her name)
The Resident Activity Board hosts an afternoon tea in each of six resident neighborhoods and arranges for Corporators to visit with residents. Boyd Place residents enjoy a "Big Breakfast Buffet" the last Friday of each month.
On June 23, Boyd Place celebrated its 11th Anniversary. A harpist provided musical entertainment and a special meal was prepared for Boyd Place residents.
On June 28 residents and their families enjoyed our first ever lawn party on the Boyd Place State Street lawn (former home of the Coffee Pot). Music by Steel Appeal, canine visit, antique cars, making s'mores were a few of the attractions.
Many of our residents attend this neighborhood party and our staff helps organize it.
During the summer months, several outings are planned for our residents.
The 14th Annual Phillips-Strickland Charity Golf Tournament was held September 12, 2011, at the Penobscot Valley Country Club. Eighty-six golfers 18 Holes of golf, lunch, dinner, prizes and a chance to win a new car. Thank you to our generous sponsors.

We work with other facilities in the area to provide a fall "get together" for a large group of residents for some live music, dancing and lunch.
An Old Fashioned Holiday Fair is held on the first Saturday of November from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a large variety of items from crafts to homemade fudge. The public is invited to attend. Our Cafe is open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the fair featuring homemade chili, haddock chowder, Maine lobster rolls, homemade pies plus much more! Poinsettias can also be ordered for the holiday season.
Volunteers and Corporators go all out to give residents and staff members fun-filled holidays including a beautifully decorated house; holiday talent show including residents, staff and guest talent, holiday party with Santa and Mrs. Claus, many musical events, and a stocking filled with goodies for each resident on Christmas morning.
NOTE: Monthly Birthday Parties are held for residents celebrating their birthdays in that month.
