January - Anniversary Dinner

2011 will mark the 34th year of service for Phillips-Strickland House.

February - Valentine's Day Dance

This event helps residents celebrate and share happy memories.

April - Annual Meeting and Tea

Each year the Corporation holds an Annual Meeting to elect officers and vote on business matters.

May 22, 2010 - Dancing For The Stars

This was a fun-filled successful fundraising event held at Gracie Theatre - Husson University.  The next Dancing For The Stars event is already being planned for May, 2011. 

May - Annual Yard Sale

9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Boyd Street Entrance.  Rain or Shine at 21 Boyd St., Bangor. Everyone loves a yard sale and this one is usually a popular one with people in the Bangor area.

June - Retirement events for Nelson Durgin

After 15 years of service to Phillip-Strickland House, Nelson Durgin retired on June 24th.  He was honored on the 24th by residents and employees.  On June 27th, he was honored by corporators at a retirement party held at Boyd Place.

July 13  Dancing For the Stars Party

We will meet under the tent for great food prepared by Montes Catering and enjoy a 12-piece Steel Drum Band. Everyone who attended our May 22nd event is welcome. Call 941-2820 to make a reservation. 

August - Volunteer Recognition

This event gives us an opportunity to say "Thank You" to those valued volunteers, both individuals and organizations who do so much for our residents throughout the year.

The 13th Annual Phillips-Strickland Charity Golf Tournament will be held September 13, 2010 at the Penobscot Valley Country Club.  Everyone is invited to participate.  Register now.

October - Octoberfest

We work with other facilities in the area to provide a fall "get together" for a large group of residents for some live music, dancing and lunch.

November - Fall Fair

We host an Old Fashioned Fall Fair on the first Saturday in November, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with everything from crafts to homemade fudge. The public is invited to attend. Our Cafe is open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the fair featuring homemade chili, haddock chowder, Maine lobster rolls, homemade pies plus much more! Poinsettias can also be ordered for the holiday season.

December - Holiday Party

Volunteers and Corporators go all out to give residents and staff members a fun- filled Holiday Party that just keeps getting bigger and better each year.

NOTE: Monthly Birthday Parties are held for residents celebrating their birthdays in that month.
